Ipswich May Day Festival

The spirit of community and solidarity is on full display at the annual Ipswich May Day Festival, held on Sunday, May 4th. This free, family-friendly event is a proud tradition, celebrating the historic achievements of the labour movement and bringing people together for a day of festivities. The celebration kicks off with a vibrant street parade, as local unions and community groups march through the city centre in a powerful show of unity. Following the march, the Nicholas Street Precinct transforms into a lively hub of activity. Attendees can enjoy a lineup of live music from local bands, listen to inspiring guest speakers, and browse a variety of stalls. With plenty of delicious food options available and a fantastic selection of free rides and entertainment to keep the kids happy, it’s a wonderful day out for the whole family.
