The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, affectionately known as The Aussies, returns to the Sunshine Coast for the pinnacle event on the nation’s surf sports calendar. This massive nine-day festival brings together more than 8,000 competitors from surf clubs all over Australia, celebrating the skill, spirit, and dedication of the surf lifesaving movement. From youth and masters to the elite open competitors, athletes battle the elements across a huge range of disciplines, including surf swimming, board and ski paddling, beach sprints, and the iconic Ironman and Ironwoman events. The beaches of Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland, and Mooloolaba will provide the spectacular arena for the thrilling competition, offering endless, free entertainment for spectators. It’s a powerful showcase of athleticism and volunteer spirit, honouring tradition while crowning the next generation of surf lifesaving champions.
